The European project MiCrocVET (2023-2025), funded under the Erasmus+ KA210-VET program, was created to support providers of non-formal continuing vocational education and training who adopt micro-credentials by developing a common approach and practical implementation tools. The project, involving Markeut Skills (Spain) as coordinator, E&D Knowledge Consulting (Portugal), Kainotomia (Greece), and OpenCom (Italy), is structured around three main activities: the creation of a common glossary, the collection of best practices, and the development of operational guidelines.

MICROCVET GLOSSARY_en

The MiCrocVET Glossary, coordinated by E&D Knowledge Consulting, is the first result of the project and responds to the need to provide training organizations with a guidance tool in the complex world of microcredentials. Through fifteen interrelated thematic areas—from certification to data security, learning methodologies, and labor market engagement — the glossary forms a comprehensive framework of key concepts that a training organization needs to master in order to effectively implement micro-credentials.
The distinctive feature of this tool lies in its practical approach. Each concept, starting from an analysis of existing definitions in the literature, proposes a definition that fits within the context of non-formal continuing vocational education and training and explores its operational meaning. The result is a tool that clarifies concepts and links them, highlighting the relationships and practical implications for stakeholders in the field.
The glossary, developed through research, collaborative brainstorming, and workshops during the mobility in Porto, is the first step towards creating a common European approach to micro-credentials. Its main aim is to support non-formal providers, who often have fewer resources than academic institutions but are called upon to play an increasingly important role in continuing education, by providing them with a guidance tool that facilitates the understanding and implementation of micro-credentials in their educational activities.
